Input Shaft Re-assembly Single Reduction

 
 


Insert input worm assembly into the housing. Seat the ball bearing against the inner retaining ring [photo]
Install the metal shims [photo]
Assemble outboard snap ring [photo]
Clean housing bores in the area where the oil seals will be installed
Install input oil seal(s) [photo]
For rubber clad oil seals apply all purpose grease (NLGI #2 consistency) to the ID and OD [photo]
For steel clad oil seals apply all purpose grease to the ID only and coat bore evenly with Permatex Form A Gasket #3 sealant [photo]
Slide new seal over input shaft until it contacts the housing. Be careful not to damage oil seal lip.
Tap oil seal casing gently using a small hammer [photo]

For size F710-F730

Coat bore plug with permatex and install a new bore plug [photo]
Using a small hammer gently tap around the plug. Use caution not to distort bore plug. [photo]
 
 
 
 

  For size F732-F738
Install new oil seal on fan end [photo]
With small hammer gently tap around oil seal casing [photo]
Drive seal flush to 1/16th" projection.
Re-install fan spacer, fan, washer, lockwasher and bolt [photo]
Tighten bolt [photo]
Re-install fan guard and tighten screws [photo]
